In this article, we will take a look ahead at the fixtures awaiting the 14 Northern sides.

Fulham vs Sunderland

Sunderland have started the season strong but come into this fixture having suffered their first defeat of the season at the weekend. Forward Tom Watson has been in great form this season. He has already grabbed five goals and two assists this season and will be hoping to add to that against Fulham.

Derby County vs Southampton

Derby suffered a poor start to the season but picked up their first point of the campaign at the weekend. Striker Lennon Wheeldon bagged a brace to earn them a 2-2 draw with Wolves and looks to be the main outlet in attack for the Rams. They will be hoping they can push on from that positive result by earning their first win of the season against Southampton.

Charlton Athletic vs Liverpool

Liverpool have had a good start to the season, currently sitting fourth in U18 Premier League North and have been looking impressive in Europe. They go into this weekend looking for their first in win the competition and be looking to Louie Koumas for goals. Koumas has grabbed nine goals and two assists already in a massively impressive campaign and will be hungry for more against lower league Charlton.

Blackburn Rovers vs Norwich City

Blackburn have struggled this season so far, picking up only one win so far. They’ll be aiming for their first win of the competition against Norwich. Forward Junior Ngangou has started the season well with two goals and an assist to his name. Rovers will need him and his strike partner George Chmiel on top form at the weekend.

Chelsea vs Everton

Everton have struggled this season but picked up their first win in the league in a shock result against Man City last weekend. However, in the cup, they’re looking for two wins from two after beating Derby in Gameweek 1. Defender Jack Tierney scored the only goal in that game and was key to Everton keeping a clean sheet against City. He’ll need to have another solid performance if Everton are to maintain their good start in the U18 Premier League Cup.

Nottingham Forest vs West Ham United

Forest have struggled for consistency this season but come into this tie off the back of their first win since opening day in the East Midlands Derby on Tuesday. Forward Jack Nadin bagged a brace in that game to take his tally for the season to three. Forest will be hoping to push on from that big win by setting down a marker against an in-form West Ham side.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Leeds United

Leeds have started the season strong with three wins from five games in the league. However, they suffered a surprise defeat to lower league Sheffield United in their opening cup game so will be looking to get their first points on the board against Brighton. Striker Ben Andreucci has grabbed four goals and an assist this season including a hat-trick against Sunderland last weekend. He’ll be hoping to carry on that form into the cup.

Leicester City vs Manchester City

City have had a very strong season so far both in the league and in Europe. However, they suffered their first defeat of the season against Everton last weekend. Forward Joel Ndala has scored six goals in all competitions this campaign but is looking for his first goal in the cup. City beat Blackburn in Gameweek 1 and looking to maintain their 100% record in the U18 Premier League Cup.

Manchester United vs Newcastle United

United have had an up and down season but come into this tie having thrashed Blackburn 6-1 last weekend. Forward Manni Norkett bagged a brace to take his tally to four for the season. Newcastle have hit a poor run of form with consecutive defeats leading into this match. Striker Ben Parkinson has scored four goals in all competitions this season. Newcastle beat Arsenal in the first round of cup fixtures whereas United lost to Aston Villa so the two sides will have opposite reasons to push for victory this weekend.

Stoke City vs Middlesbrough

Stoke have made a strong start to the season with four wins from five in the league. Striker Nathan Lowe has scored four goals in all competitions. Boro have suffered an indifferent start to the season with just one win so far. Forward Ashley McCarthy has grabbed two goals and an assist so far this season so Boro will look to him for goals. Both sides lost their opening cup match so will be desperate for a win to keep their qualification hopes alive.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolves are the only unbeaten team in the U18 Premier League North with three wins and a draw so far in the league. However, they suffered a surprise defeat to lower league Charlton in Gameweek 1 of the cup. They’ll be aiming to get back on track in the cup against Tottenham this weekend. Forward Owen Farmer has three goals and an assist to his name including the only goal in that defeat so will be aiming to add to that against Spurs.

Sheffield United vs Crystal Palace

Sheffield United have had a strong start to the season with three wins and a draw from their six league matches so far. They caused an upset against Leeds in the first round of games and will be hoping to do the same against an in-form Palace side.
