U18 Premier League Cup Southern Preview

Matchday 2 of the U18 Premier League Cup resumes this Saturday and we will surely look forward to some crunch fixtures! This year’s competition adds the extra competitive edge of knockout football for these young talented footballers. A chance to showcase their talent and to develop mentally. 

Fulham U18 vs Sunderland U18

Fulham will welcome U18s Premier League North leaders Sunderland at Motspur Park kicking off at 11 am. Ali Melloul’s side will be aiming to pick up their first three points of the competition. In their last outing they succumbed to a 4 – 2 loss against West Ham, and they will want to build on their first league win of the season, by aiming to secure a win against Sunderland. Sunderland has won 5 out of their last 6 games so far this season. Aaron Loupalo-Bi will be crucial for Fulham if they have any chance of picking up their first win of the competition. The 16-year-old physical striker has 3 goals in all competitions and he is the leading goal scorer for his team. Oliver Gofford, Liam Gordon and Terrell Works are all key to Fulham’s chances as well. Sunderland will be a tough test for Fulham, but with home advantage on their side, they will look to stamp their authority on the pitch.

Derby County U18 vs Southampton U18

Southampton and Derby County will lock horns at Venue Moor Farm Training Centre. Both teams are currently winless this season in their respective leagues. Although, Southampton surprisingly thumped Chelsea 3 – 0 in their opening group game of the U18 Premier League Cup. Despite their horrible start to their league season, where they have only picked up 2 points so far. Mikey Harris’s side will want to seal another win against Derby to take a significant step towards winning the group and progressing into the knockout stages. Sonny Davis and Jimmy Jay Morgan (twice) got on the scoresheet last time out for their team. Both players will want to increase their goal contributions in this ongoing competition.

Charlton Athletic U18 vs Liverpool U18

U18 Professional Development League side Charlton Athletic will welcome U18 Premier League Northern side, Liverpool, in New Eltham. Charlton has won 5 out of their 6 games in all competitions so far, and their only defeat came against Burnley. Charlton Athletic convincingly defeated Wolves 3 – 1 in their first group game of the competition. The young Addicks will want to take a huge step towards qualifying for the next round with a win against Liverpool. 

Patrick Casey is the leading goal scorer for his team with 8 goals in all competitions. Jason Pearce, will look to rely on him and the rest of the team to cause an upset against Liverpool. 

Blackburn Rovers U18 vs Norwich City U18Greg Crane’s side will travel to Lancashire to face Blackburn Rovers who recorded their first win of the season against Leeds United. Norwich City won their opening game 2 – 1 against Leicester City. Norwich City will look to secure another three points against their opponents. Kenneth Aboh and Osman Foyo are the leading goal scorers with two goals each. Both players will look to continue their decent start to the season against Blackburn Rovers.

Chelsea U18 vs Everton U18

Defending champions Chelsea who have lost their three games will want to kickstart their U18 Premier League Cup campaign against Everton. Previously they were battered by Southampton in their first game and Edward Brand’s wouldn’t want another repeat again this weekend. Leo Casteldine, Jude Soonsup-Bell and talented winger Tudor-Mendel Idowu will need their shooting boots on if Chelsea are to get their campaign back on track.

West Bromwich Albion U18 vs Ipswich Town U18

West Brom who opened their campaign with a 3 – 0 win against Middlesbrough. They welcome Ipswich Town to Palm Training Ground. Ipswich also won their opening game against Stoke City. So, both teams will be fighting it out to take full control of this group. Layton Love got on the scoresheet last time out alongside Hurlock and Heard. They will surely want to get on the scoresheet against Ipswich, although this won’t be an easy tie.

Nottingham Forest U18 vs West Ham United U18

Kevin Keen’s side has had a brilliant start to the season and they will want to continue their %100 record against Forest. West Ham defeated their London rivals Fulham by four goals to two. Callum Marshall scored a hattrick and Gideon Kodua got on the scoresheet as well. The young Irons will aim to continue their amazing start to the season against Nottingham Forest. 

Brighton Hove Albion U18 vs Leeds United U18

Arthur Brammer’s Brighton side will want to bounce back against Leeds United. In their previous outing, they lost to their fierce rivals Crystal Palace by three goals to nil. They will want to get their campaign back on track if they have any chance of progressing to the knockout rounds. 

Remiero Moulton has three goals in all competitions and he will be key to Brighton if they have any ambitions of getting a positive result against Leeds.


Arsenal U18 vs Aston Villa U18

Jack Wilshere’s young Gunners welcome Aston Villa to London Colney tomorrow midday. Arsenal lost their first game 4 – 2 against Newcastle United and will want to bounce back against Villa to keep their hopes of qualifying to the knockout stages alive. 15-year-old first-team Arsenal debutant Ethan Nwaneri got on the scoresheet in Arsenal’s last league game. He alongside Omari Benjamin will be key to Arsenal’s chances tomorrow afternoon against Villa who secured their first group win against Manchester United.


Leicester City U18 vs Manchester City U18

Leicester City will be against Manchester City tomorrow afternoon at 12:30 pm. Leicester City has had a very poor start to the season, and this fixture does not get any easier for them. On their last outing in this competition, they were beaten by Norwich City 2 – 1. Adam Barradell’s Leicester City will not have it easy against this Manchester City team. Amani Richards has contributed with four goals for Leicester. He will need to carry on his decent form if Leicester is to get anything against Ben Wilkinson’s side.


Sheffield United U18 vs Crystal Palace U18

Crystal Palace will travel to south Yorkshire to play their second group game of the U18 Premier League cup against Sheffield United. Rob Quinn’s young Eagles side has won 5 out of their last 6 games. They also won their first group game against Brighton emphatically. Junior Dixon has had a brilliant start to the season with 7 goals. He will be crucial for Palace against Sheffield United tomorrow afternoon.


Tottenham Hotspur U18 vs Wolverhampton Wanderers U18

Tottenham will look to secure another three points towards qualification when they face Wolves tomorrow afternoon. Spurs comfortably defeated Liverpool 3 – 1 in their last outing. Jaden Williams scored a hattrick on that day and he will be confident of increasing his tally tomorrow afternoon.
