U18 Premier League North: Top performers from game week 9

The U18 Premier League North continued over the weekend with ten teams involved in the action. There were some key top-of-the-table battles, lots of goals and some stunning individual performances. Here are the five standouts stars of game week nine.

Alfie Harrison, Manchester City

Alfie Harrison made his first league start of the season in Manchester City’s victory over Blackburn Rovers at the weekend. The 16-year-old marked the occasion with a hat-trick as City cruised to a 5-0 victory and moved up to third in the table. The midfielder opened the scoring for the Citizens before adding a second-half brace to complete the hat-trick. Harrison seems to enjoy playing Rovers as he also scored against them in a City victory in the U18 Premier League Cup back in September.

Matthew Whittingham, Manchester City

Matthew Whittingham has been in fine form recently, getting a goal contribution in all but one league match so far this campaign. The 18-year-old grabbed two assists at the weekend, setting up both of Harrison’s second-half goals. This takes his total tally for the season to six which has moved him to top of the assist charts in the U18 Premier League North this season.

Joel Ndala, Manchester City

Joel Ndala has been one of the standout players in the U18 Premier League North this season and provided another top level display against Blackburn. The forward got a goal and an assist in the victory to take his tally to 11 contributions this campaign. The goal moves him up to joint top scorer in the league on seven goals, level with Liverpool forward Louie Koumas. The 16-year-old was a thorn in the side of Rovers from kickoff right up until he was substituted in the second half.

Tommy Jackson, Stoke City

Tommy Jackson has cemented his place as number one for Stoke City this season and proved why with a strong display against Sunderland. The two sides playing out an entertaining encounter despite the 0-0 scoreline. The 18-year-old stopper was key to the game finishing goalless, making six saves on his way to a second clean sheet of the season. Jackson has had a solid season so far making many key saves and has even managed an assist.

Caden Voice, Wolverhampton Wanderers- Goal and clean sheet

Caden Voice was the star man in their 1-0 victory over Liverpool at the weekend. The defender helped Wolves to their third clean sheet of the season and scored to goal to give them the victory. Wolves have had a strong campaign so far and have the best defensive record in the league this season. Voice has played every game at the back for Wolves and has played a key role in this success.
