SGS College Debuts New American Football Pitch in Style

SGS College’s American Football Academy known as ‘PRIDE’ debuted their brand-new, £680,000 purpose-built pitch in style by beating Birmingham Lions 56-0.

The newly designed 4G pitch is one of only three of its kind in all of Europe and created huge excitement for Pride American Football Academy learners.

Spectators were treated to an electric atmosphere due to new developments of elevated filming platforms, music, play-by-play, raised bleachers and a turn-style entrance.

Both the defence and offence picked up points early in the first quarter. PJ Hudson set the pace for Pride as he secured a pick-six before having to leave the game due to an injury. Daniel Spafford and Feranmi Okunlola picked up interceptions later in the game as the Lions struggled.

AJ Carter proved to be a quarterback’s dream during the match to go along with Cameron Mills’s effective contributions for PRIDE. Finding the end zone for PRIDE were Jeremie Bani, Ovie Bazunu and Dejahne Erskine. The running clock (mercy rule) was enforced from halftime.

SGS College’s Director of American Football, Ben Herod said: “What a great result for our first game on this new field. We want to strive to be the best team in the country and now we can play on a field like nowhere else in the country.

Despite the 56-0 win we will continue to improve our performance. We have lots of players out and have guys playing out of position, getting those players back in will help us with our continuing performance development.”
