Manni Norkett opened the scoring from the spot for United before Bradley Ibrahim scored a penalty himself to level the match going into halftime.

Williams scored shortly after the break to restore United’s lead before Nwaneri’s two goals flipped the game on its head but Williams grabbed his double to ensure the points were shared.

Manchester United came into this game knowing they were already eliminated from the competition while Arsenal knew they needed a win to have any chance of reaching the last eight.

United were awarded a penalty in the seventh minute when Alexei Rojas took too much time on the ball allowing James Nolan to nip in and draw a foul from the Arsenal stopper.

Norkett stepped up to take the penalty and dispatched it calmly into the bottom corner for his fifth goal of the season.

Arsenal struggled for the bulk of the first half but earned themselves a chance to get back into the game in the 30th minute when Adam Berry tripped Myles Lewis-Skelly in the box.

Ibrahim stepped up to take the resulting penalty and sent Tom Wooster the wrong way as he rolled the ball into the bottom corner.

United restored their lead in the 57th minute when Jack Kingdon played a long ball forward which was flicked on by Max Oyedele into Williams who fired a strike in at the near post.

The Gunners equalised five minutes when Lewis-Skelly drove forward and found Ethan Nwaneri who turned his man and slotted a confident finish into the bottom corner.

Arsenal took the lead in the 70th minute when Nwaneri made a driving run through the centre of the park before firing home from outside the box to grab his second of the game.

The Red Devils equalised in the 85th minute when Sam Murray found space out on the left and drilled a low ball across the box for Williams who tucked home his second goal and rounded off a thrilling cup match.

The draw means both teams are eliminated from the competition while Aston Villa progressed from Group C as winners after their victory over Newcastle United.
