London Basketball Classic: Who will be crowned ‘Kings Of The Court’?

London’s Copper Box Arena will play host to the Inaugural ‘London Basketball Classic’ on the 24th and 26th of November 2022. The event will feature four NCAA Division 1 collegiate basketball teams who will compete to be crowned ‘Kings of the Court’.

Two semi-final matches will take place on the 24th, the first being Manhattan College vs Northeastern University at 5:00pm GMT followed by Princeton University vs Army West Point at 7:30pm GMT. A 3rd place playoff will take place on the 26th, tipping off at 2:30pm GMT. Followed by the championship match, starting at 5:00pm GMT.

Manhattan enter the tournament having won their most recent game 86-39 vs Mount Saint Vincent despite losing in their previous two fixtures against VCU and Farleigh Dickinson. Elijah Buchanan and Josh Roberts lead the scoring for Manhattan, with 46 and 45 points respectively over the last three games.

Their opponents will be desperate to change their fortunes as they enter the tournament having lost their last four games. 6’7 guard Jahmyl Telfort leads in scoring for Northeastern, averaging roughly 16 points per game.

Princeton find themselves on a positive streak as they have won their last two games and the Tigers will be looking to add to this streak when they cross the Atlantic. British born Tosan Evbuomwan has been a key man for Princeton averaging 16 points and 7 rebounds per game. Last season’s Ivy League Player of the Year will be looking to impress when he returns to Britain soil.

With a record of 2-3, Army West Point are led by 6’6 forward Chris Mann who dropped 23 points and 4 rebounds against Radford last time out. Coleton Benson is another impressive performer who has had two 20+ point games and is averaging just under 16 points per game.
