The U18 Premier League North takes a break this week but there was plenty of action to reflect on from last weekend. Five fixtures took place providing some brilliant match-ups and a whopping 25 goals. There were also some stunning individual performances as well. Here are the three standout stars from the mini-week of fixtures.

Joel Ndala, Manchester City

Joel Ndala was once again the star man for Manchester City as they thrashed Wolves 8-0. The 16-year-old scored a goal and grabbed three assists in the rout. The goal was Ndala’s ninth of the season in the U18 Premier League North which increases his lead at the top of the goalscoring charts. The forward’s form in front of goal this season has been incredible. He has only failed to find the back of the net in two league games that he has started.

Matthew Whittingham, Manchester City

Matthew Whittingham has been one of the best players in the U18 Premier League North this season. He scored two goals in City’s victory against Wolves to take his tally for the season to six. The midfielder is also top of the assist chance this season. Whittingham has 15 goal contributions in just 11 league games this season. His goals on Saturday helped City maintain their chase for the top of the table where sit two points off leaders Sunderland.

Ben Middlemas, Sunderland

Ben Middlemas scored a goal and grabbed two assists for Sunderland in their 4-0 win away at Liverpool. The 17-year-old has been split between the U18s and the U21s this season. Middlemas ran the show from the centre of the park as Sunderland swept aside the Reds to maintain their place at the top of the table. The midfielder had an impressive campaign last season and has recently returned from injury. He has started the last two games for the U18s and made crucial contributions.
