Leicester City prospect Will Alves suffers long term ACL injury following a brutal tackle from Wolves’ Caden Voice.

The talented 17-year-old will now likely face nine months on the side lines and has suffered a torn ACL, commonly known as one of the worst injuries in sport.

Before the tackle, Alves was very much involved in the game where Leicester scored two goals in extra time to progress to the next round of the FA Youth Cup where they will face Sheffield Wednesday.

The injury came as Alves showed his pace and skill by turning with the ball as he began to drive towards the Wolves defence. Voice stepped up and raised his studs into the knee of Alves in what looked to be an intentional horror tackle.

This caused a fierce altercation between the Wolves and Leicester players and Caden Voice was shown a straight red card for his actions.

Leicester were just ten minutes from victory in extra time when Alves suffered the injury.

On Instagram, Alves said:

Leicester City first team boss Brendan Rodgers said: “He was taken out by one of the worst challenges I’ve seen on a football field.”

Just days earlier, Will came on in the 79th minute for the first team in their EFL Cup clash with MK Dons. The game ended 3-0 to the Foxes and Alves looked lively in his performance.

Everyone at EliteScholars wishes Will a successful and speedy recovery.
