Goals from Seb Ferdinand, Amario Cozier-Duberry and Osman Kamara were enough to send Arsenal to the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup.

Arsenal came into this game winning their last two consecutive games, which included their 6 – 0 win against Millwall in the third round of the FA Youth Cup. Meanwhile, Newcastle United had lost their last two league games since their previous victory against Charlton Athletic in the previous round of the cup.

In the 6th minute.Arsenal had the first game chance as Jimmy Gower played the through ball to Cozier-Dubbery; however, his shot inside the box hit the side netting.

Jack Wilshere’s side broke the deadlock in the 15th minute, with Seb Ferdinand scoring the goal. Cozier-Dubbery took on his opponent and delivered a low cross that Harris saved after an initial scramble in the box. However, the ball fell to Ferdinand, who tapped in from close range to give Arsenal the lead.

Newcastle United responded three minutes later with an equaliser, as Lewis Miley got the better of Reuell Walters, finishing expertly past Cooper to draw Newcastle level.

Graeme Carrick’s side grew into the game after their equaliser, and they should have scored twice in quick succession, as both chances fell to Ben Parkinson in the 33rd and 34th minute. However, Noah Cooper made two comfortable saves to deny the striker.

The liveliest player on the pitch, Cozier-Duberry restored Arsenal’s lead just before half time, as he cut onto his left foot and finished nicely past Aidan Harris. Lewis Skelly was heavily involved in the build-up to the goal as he went on a fantastic run before releasing the right winger. The Young Gunners went into half-time with a 2 – 1 lead.

After the interval in the 49th minute, Jimmy Gower’s shot outside the box was deflected by the Newcastle defender, but Harris held onto the ball with aplomb.

Newcastle United responded with an equaliser again close to the hour mark courtesy of a goal scored by Ben Parkinson. Johnny Emerson delivered a brilliant cross from the left, and Parkinson slid it home past Cooper.
