The 2022/2023 season will be the last season with London Lions and Barking Abbey as partners.

London Lions and Barking Abbey will be ending their partnership, meaning the ongoing pathway that give Barking Abbey academy players exposure to the BBL will be coming to an end.

Both parties met in the summer of 2022 and came to a mutual agreement that it wasn’t a partnership they saw working going forward.

On the partnership end Barking Abbey’s head coach added: “We thank them for the partnership for the period of the time that we did and wish them luck for the future.”

“For us nothing really changes, we play at a very high level anyways in terms of academy wise. We still play division 1 mens basketball and division 1 women’s basketball so our kids are still getting a very high level of basketball. Its only the very very few outliers that actually get to play in the top division in the BBL and WBBL and this very rare anyway. So for our kids, they still get to play in one of the highest levels in the country.”
