Jayden Danns scored a brace off the bench to earn a point for Liverpool as they played out a 3-3 draw with Derby County in the U18 Premier League North.

Riley Moloney and Adebayo Fapetu raced Derby into an early lead before Kieran Morrison pulled one back for Liverpool. Dajaune Brown grabbed a third for Derby before the break.

Jayden Danns entered the pitch in the 59th minute and made an instant impact to bring the Reds back into the game before tucking away a stoppage-time penalty to ensure the points were shared.

Liverpool came into the clash off the back of FA Youth Cup elimination away at second-tier Ipswich Town. The Reds are also without a win in their last seven league games.

Derby have bounced back from their poor start to the season. The Rams are unbeaten since the Christmas break and entered this clash on a run of three consecutive league draws.

What Happened?

Derby took the lead in the 11th minute when Cameron Ashia released Riley Moloney into the box. The defender drilled a stunning effort into the far corner from a tight angle.

The Rams doubled their lead just seven minutes later when Fapetu rose highest to nod home his third goal of the season from Carlos Peliza Richards’ corner.

Liverpool pulled a goal back in the 28th minute when Kieran Morrison let fly from 20 yards out. His effort took a deflection which beat Josh Shattell and found the bottom corner.

Derby regained their two-goal lead ten minutes later with a stunning finish from Brown to direct Ashia’s cross into the back of the net with an unorthodox but effective effort.

The Reds halved the deficit in the 60th minute when substitute Danns got on the end of Michael Laffey’s corner. He saw his first effort blocked but was alive to the rebound to slot home.

Liverpool earned themselves a stoppage-time lifeline when Keilen Robinson chopped down Ranel Young in the penalty area.

Danns stepped up to take the resulting spot kick and sent Shattel the wrong way as he calmly rolled the ball into the bottom right corner.

The point sees the Rams drop to the foot of the U18 Premier League North table following Blackburn Rover’s win over Leeds United.

As for the Reds, the late penalty ended their run of recent defeats but the wait for their first league win since October continues.
