Joventut Badalona’s Rubin Prey was named the Most Valuable Player at the most recent Adidas Next Generation Tournament in Patras.

Rubin Prey’s MVP award came with no surprise at the final buzzer, leading his team with 19 points, 15 rebounds, and four blocks.

His electric display on both ends of the floor means Joventut Badalona qualifies for the ANGT Finals for the first time since the 2017-18 season.

The tournament

Joventut Badalona got their tournament underway on Friday, narrowly beating Cholet basket 57-60 in the opening encounter with MVP Rubin Prey hauling down 21 rebounds.

After a nervous start to the tournament, Joventut found their groove in the second game, demolishing Promitheas Patras 88-52 in the second qualifier of the weekend.

Following on from their 36-point thrashing of Promitheas Patras, Joventut Badalona’s only game on Saturday was against RASTA Vechta to see who would qualify for the final game.

Joventut’s MVP center was at the focal point of the team’s 88-66 victory over Vechta, scoring a colossal 27 points, ten rebounds, and two blocks in the game.

The final game on Sunday, against LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne, was won in a convincing fashion, winning 71-56 to grab their ticket to the ANGT Finals.
