Declan Kom Commits to USC Salkehatchie

Sheffield’s College Declan Kom, has committed to the University of South Carolina Salkehatchie for the 2023/2024 season. This is great news for the Salkehatchie Indians, as Kom is a talented player who has been making a name for himself in the British basketball scene.

Kom is currently the second-highest scorer in the EABL, averaging an impressive 22 points per game. He has also been a regular in the EliteScholars players of the week for his standout performances in the EABL. Additionally, Kom has so far averaged 20 points over seven games in the EYBL, demonstrating his ability to perform at a high level consistently.

Kom received an offer from the USC Salkehatchie in January, and he expressed his excitement about the opportunity to play for the team. In a statement to his team’s Instagram, Kom said,

“I’m excited to announce that I will be committing to the University of South Carolina Salkehatchie. With USO’s playstyle and attitude toward winning, I think it will be a great fit for me.”

Kom also expressed his gratitude to his coaches and teammates at the Sheffield College, where he has been honing his skills. He stated, “I’d like to say a huge thank you to all my coaches and teammates at the Sheffield College for helping me get here, and I look forward to finishing the year strong.” Kom also thanked his family for their support, saying, “Most importantly, I’d like to thank my family for always pushing me forward, onto the next.”

The University of South Carolina Salkehatchie is a member of the NJCAA and competes in the Division I region 9. They have a strong basketball program and have produced several players who have gone on to play at the NCAA Division I level.
