Nikola Topic named MVP of ANGT Belgrade with record-breaking performance

Crvena Zvezda guard Nikola Topic won the Adidas Next Generation Tournament Belgrade Qualifier MVP, despite losing the first-placed game to Mega MIS Belgrade.

Topic’s outstanding performances throughout the weekend were enough for him to earn the award and be a part of the All-Tournament team.

The Crvena Zveda star averaged 26.8 points per game, 97% from the free throw line, four rebounds, and seven assists for the tournament.

In the overtime loss to Belgrade, Topic was still the best performer in the game, collecting 18 points, three rebounds, and seven assists.

The tournament

Nikola Topic stole the show in the opening game for his side against Valencia Basket, scoring 31 points, securing eight rebounds, and creating seven assists, helping Crvena Zvezda win 84-71.

Crvena Zvezda comfortably saw off rivals Partisan Belgrade in the tournament’s second game, winning 89-73, with Zvezda player Pavle Misic taking the reins, producing 15 points and six rebounds.

The record-breaking game for Nikola Topic came in the third and final group game, producing an ANGT record of 49 points in a 95-96 victory over Next Generation Team Belgrade. Topic also dished out 12 assists and was 100% from the line.

Crvena Zvezda lost in overtime in the final game 79-80 to Mega Belgrade. Topic still left his mark on the game and finished the tournament strong his 18 points, three rebounds, and seven assists.

ANGT Finals

With the tournament in Belgrade wrapped up, the final four teams are now fully confirmed.

The Finals will take place from May 18th to May 21st in Kaunas, Lithuania, with Mega Belgrade joining Barcelona, Joventut Badalona, and Real Madrid in the final four of the competition.
