Here are the standout stars from another thrilling week of academy football.

Jayden Danns, Liverpool

Jayden Danns notched two goals and an assist in Liverpool’s 4-0 win against Leeds United. The 17-year-old opened the scoring from the penalty spot early on. In the second half, he set up Louie Koumas for the Reds’ third before rounding off the game in stoppage time with his second goal. Danns’ haul moves him up to seven goals and two assists in the U18 Premier League this season.

Lennon Wheeldon, Derby County

Lennon Wheeldon netted a hat-trick in Derby County’s 5-2 thrashing of Liverpool in midweek. The forward put Derby 2-1 up in first-half stoppage time before adding a second shortly after the interval. Wheeldon then headed in his hat-trick goal in stoppage time to wrap up the points for the Rams. His treble takes him up to eight league goals this campaign.

Nico O’Reilly, Manchester City

Nico O’Reilly netted a brace in Manchester City’s 3-1 victory away at rivals Manchester United. The midfielder netted two stunning first-half strikes including an effort from over 40 yards out to put City in control of the game. The victory means the Citizens will be crowned U18 Premier League North champions if they beat second-place Sunderland when the two face off next weekend.

Tudor Mendel-Idowu, Chelsea

The 18-year-old opened the scoring in the first half before netting his second and Chelsea’s third in the second half to round off the three points.
