FA Youth Cup Final: Arsenal vs West Ham United Preview

The biggest game in the youth football calendar takes place tonight as Arsenal and West Ham United compete for the FA Youth Cup at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal, who are managed by club legend Jack Wilshere, are into their first final since 2018 after beating Manchester City 2-1 in the semi-finals. Michal Rosiak and Myles Lewis-Skelly netted the goals as the Gunners overcame 10-man City with a winner in the last minute of extra time.

As for the Hammers, they booked their place in the final with a 6-1 thrashing of Southampton in the semis. Divin Mubama netted a hat-trick with goals from Callum Marshall, Gideon Kodua and Favour Fawunmi sealing the victory.

Kevin Keen’s side were crowned U18 Premier League South champions two weeks ago and will be aiming to add cup success to their incredible season. The Hammers have won the FA Youth Cup three times in their history with the latest coming in 1999.

The Gunners have seven FA Youth Cups to their name, with only Manchester United and Chelsea having won more. The last title for Arsenal came against Liverpool in 2009.

The two sides have met twice in the U18 Premier League South this season with West Ham coming out on top on both occasions. The most recent being just two matches ago, the Hammers ran out 2-0 winners in that game to confirm their league title. Keen’s men also claimed a 4-1 win back in November.

Coincidently, both sides last match before the final was against Leicester City. Arsenal earning a 2-2 draw last Tuesday before West Ham won 3-1 away at the Foxes on Saturday.

The most prestigious game in youth football gets underway at the Emirates Stadium at 19:00 on Tuesday 25th April and is available to watch via the FA Player.
