Nedas Cholevinskas 21, leads Team Black to victory in Hoopsfix All-Star Classic game

Team Black was victorious in the ninth Hoopsfix All-Star Classic Under-19 Men’s game. It concluded a day to remember at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre having showcased the vast amount of talent that British basketball has to offer.

The game involved the best players at the under-19 level split into two teams, Team White vs Team Black.

What Happened?

Dijarin Russell-Walters threw down a statement dunk early doors as Team Black started strong.

Team White responded through Matthew Goodwin who drilled the first three of the game off the glass.

Cholevinskas grabbed himself five quick points sinking a deep three, then stealing the ball at half court for the layup in the following possession.

The first quarter ended with a bang as Di-Jani Parkinson denied Cholevinskas with a huge block, going into the second quarter with Team Black leading 22-13.

Goodwin got his team going in the second, stealing the ball and throwing it down on the fast break.

Louie Tucker came into the game and showed why he is the MVP of the EABL North with a tough up-and-under finish.

Tucker shot 70% from the field and scored 16 points in an excellent offensive display.

Chudi Dioramma was relentless with his rim protection, finishing with a game-high four blocks for Team Black.

An entertaining first half ended with Team Black up by 12 points as they led 41-29.

The third quarter was played at a very fast pace with White trying to cut the lead down, but Dioramma made things difficult for them in the paint.

With three minutes to go in the quarter, Team Black made back-to-back threes through Stephen Asante and Cholevinskas.

Black began to run away with the game as they went into the fourth quarter up 71-46, White kept up the effort levels, but their opponents had bags of quality on both ends of the floor.

Ignas Juskevicius was effective on the boards grabbing a game high 13 rebounds as well as scoring 10 points for the double double.

Tucker showed off his impressive lay-up package once again in the fourth with several tough finishes at the bucket.

Team Black closed out the win by a whopping 30 points, winning 96-66 in a very entertaining display.

Cholevinskas lit up the game and his performance earned him the MVP award, ending with 21 points, eight rebounds and four steals.

He told EliteScholars: “I’m happy the shots went in, I shot quite well so that was good. This (MVP) is just a bonus, the whole experience is what counts.

“Off season is where most of the work happens to be honest the season is the fun part and the off season is the difficult part so, just got to work.”
