Two giants of European football in Portugal and Italy will face off in the final of the 2023 UEFA U19 championship.

The final will be a repeat of 2003 where the Italians came out on top in Liechtenstein and 2018 where Portugal ran out winners after extra time.

Portugal will be widely considered as favourites and have enjoyed a flawless campaign so far, winning four games out of four and scoring 14 goals, the most in the competition.

They breezed past Norway in their semi-final, winning 5-0 in a statement showing from the likes of Hugo Félix and Rodrigo Ribeiro who have been standout performers leading up to the final.

Italy have seemingly done things the hard way, going right down to the wire in Group B where they finished in second place with a win, a loss and a draw.

They then had to deal with a resilient Spanish side who wouldn’t lie down in a dramatic second half encounter, where the Italians eventually came out on top thanks to an 85th minute winner from substitute Luca Lipani.

The final will take place at Malta’s National Stadium, Ta’Qali on Sunday June 16th with the match kicking off at 8:00PM BST.

A stream will be available on UEFA TV.
