U18 Premier League: Players to watch in the 2023/24 season

The U18 Premier League gets back underway for another year on Saturday. The new season offers an opportunity for the next group of talented players to make their mark. Here are three young stars who could have a breakthrough campaign this season in the U18 Premier League North.

Shea Lacey, Manchester United

16-year-old Shea Lacey already has a very strong reputation amongst the Manchester United faithful. Lacey made 12 appearances for the United U18s in the back end of last season where he recorded three goals and three assists. The winger has already represented England at U15 and U16 level and has featured for United in a few youth tournaments where he has impressed. The new campaign offers Lacey an opportunity for regular football at the U18 level to further his progression.

Keyrol Figueroa, Liverpool

16-year-old Keyrol Figueroa has been consistently scoring goals in pre-season for the Liverpool youth sides. Figueroa first featured for Liverpool U18s aged 15 in the 21/22 campaign. The forward continued to make substitute appearances at the start of the last campaign before suffering from a long-term injury. When he returned at the end of the campaign he grabbed four goals and three assists in eight matches. He also recently scored seven goals in seven games for the USA at the CONCACAF U17 championships.

Farid Alfa-Ruprecht, Manchester City

17-year-old Farid Alfa-Ruprecht joined City last summer and made 18 appearances for the U18s, primarily off the bench. The winger recorded three goals and an assist in the U18 Premier League North as well as breaking into the Germany U17 setup. Ahead of the 2023/24 season, the likes of Joel Ndala and Justin Oboavwoduo are expected to make the step up to the U21s after the departures of Carlos Borges and Adedire Mebude. This presents an opportunity for more regular starts for Alfa-Ruprecht to firmly establish himself in the U18s.
