EABL Top Performers: Game Week 5

For week five of the EABL campaign, five players have deservedly claimed the spotlight following outstanding performances last time out. Here are the five Players of the Week:

Ludlow Hewson, Canterbury Academy

The Canterbury Academy mounted a comeback from an eleven-point halftime deficit to secure a 63-68 victory on the road against Itchen College.

Leading by example as captain, Ludlow Hewson delivered a stellar performance with 29 points, five rebounds, four steals, and two assists. Hewson shot 38% from the field going 10 for 26.

Despite averaging seven assists this season, it was his three-point prowess that proved decisive in the latest game, sinking five shots from long range. Notably, Hewson was also honored as the official EABL Player of the Week for his outstanding contribution.

Isaac Thorpe, Derby Trailblazers

In emphatic style, the Derby Trailblazers dominated week five with a resounding 120-85 victory at home against SGS College.

Superstar guard Isaac Thorpe led from the front, producing a near-perfect shooting display and finishing with an impressive 37 points. Thorpe was unstoppable, hitting seven of eight shots from two-point range and seven of eleven three-pointers (73% accuracy) while contributing seven assists, three rebounds, and three steals.

Bolade Egbeyemi, Barking Abbey

Reigning champions Barking Abbey faced a challenging encounter against the JMA Reading Rockets, securing a narrow 79-75 victory with a strong fourth-quarter performance.

Barking’s standout player was Bolade Edbeyemi, who scored 18 points in just over half an hour of play. Edbeyemi’s hot start in the first half kept Barking in the game, finishing seven of twelve attempts from the field and contributing four rebounds and two assists.

Harry Millbank, JMA Reading Rockets

Despite the loss, Reading Rockets had standout performances, with Harry Millbank leading the scoring with 23 points.

Millbank, playing 36 minutes, displayed sharpshooting skills and was on fire from beyond the arc, making six of ten shots. He also contributed in other aspects, securing five rebounds, one block, and two steals.

Isaac Round, JMA Reading Rockets

Back to back selections in the EABL Players of the Week, Isaac Round’s performance against Barking warranted another selection.

Round scored 22 points on 55% shooting, making five of nine shots. In the final quarter, he led the charge with eleven points, drew eight fouls, and showcased versatility in scoring from various parts of the court. Round concluded his exceptional performance with seven rebounds and five assists.
