U18 Premier League: Top performers from 2nd December 2023

Only three fixtures took place in the U18 Premier League this week as the winter weather took the spotlight instead. However, Manchester United continued to provide some heat as they maintained their 100% record. Meanwhile, West Ham United climbed to second with a victory in the only fixture in the south this weekend. Here are the standout U18 Premier League players from a quiet week of winter academy football.

Jemiah Umolu, West Ham United

Jemiah Umolu bagged a hat-trick as West Ham thrashed Leicester City 5-0. The 18-year-old opened the scoring after 14 minutes before notching two goals in eight minutes midway through the second half to complete his treble. This is the latest addition to the forward’s electric form this season and takes his goal tally to double figures in the league in just nine matches. Umolu has also now scored six goals in his last three games in all competitions.

Alfie Harrison, Manchester City

Alfie Harrison netted twice and provided an assist in Manchester City’s 3-0 triumph against Liverpool. The midfielder set up Divine Mukasa for the opener in the first half. He then doubled City’s tally on the hour mark before adding his second deep into stoppage time. The 18-year-old now has eight goals and three assists in eight league matches this season and has already beaten his tally for last campaign in a third of the matches.

Gabriele Biancheri, Manchester United

Gabriele Biancheri grabbed a goal and an assist as Manchester United beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 to go six points clear at the top of the U18 Premier League North. The Wales U17 international opened the scoring from the penalty spot after 15 minutes before assisting Ruben Curly’s stoppage time goal that made sure of the points. The forward is in his breakthrough campaign at U18 level and has six goals in eight games in all competitions so far.
