EABL Top Performers: Game Week 10

With only two games played in the EABL this week, five players from two teams were named in the Players of the Week after Canterbury and Barking finished with perfect wins.

Ludlow Hewson, Canterbury Academy

In the first of the two games in the EABL this week, the Canterbury Academy dismantled the Oakland Wolves, winning 87-62.

Captain Ludlow Hewson earned his second Player of the Week induction in a row, leading his Canterbury side by example, having dominated on both sides of the ball.

Hewson scored 18 points on 46% shooting and grabbed eight rebounds and seven assists. The captain also produced three steals in the game.

Shem Onadeko, Canterbury Academy

Canterbury’s leading scorer in the game was Shem Onadeko, who scored 20 points in the comfortable win for the Southern Conference team.

Onadeko scored eight of his 20 points in the third quarter as Canterbury took a commanding 71-49 lead into the quarter of play.

Like Hewson, Onadeko also had a near-perfect all-round display, having seven rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block.

Luke Thornton, Canterbury Academy

The final player from the Canterbury Academy to be named in the Players of the Week is Luke Thornton, Canterbury’s star man off the bench.

In just 15 minutes on the court against Oakland, Thornton was quick to make an impact and lit it up from beyond the arc, hitting six of ten attempts.

Thornton nailed three three-pointers in the second quarter and 11 total to help Canterbury build an 18-point lead at half time. He finished with 20 points on 58% shooting.

Harry Godwin, Barking Abbey

Reigning champions Barking Abbey put in a dominant display against Copleston High School, beating them 82-104 on the road.

Harry Godwin scored a game-high 20 points for Barking Abbey in 24 minutes and was near perfect from the three-point line, hitting four of five from beyond the arc.

Godwin finished the game with one rebound, three assists, and two steals, but his elite shooting was enough to see him named in the Players of the Week.

Lewis Obiorah, Barking Abbey

Power Forward / Center Lewis Obiorah complemented Godwin perfectly in the game, with Godwin providing the shooting touch and Obiorah being the dominant presence on the glass.

The Barking forward played 17 minutes, scoring ten points, and making four of his six field goals, doing most of his work in the paint.

Obiorah capped off his display, finishing with a double-double after grabbing 14 rebounds, seven defensive and seven offensive rebounds. He also had two blocks, one steal, and one assist.

Additionally, Obiorah’s performance was electrifying as he threw down several dunks, turning the gym into ‘lob city’. His high-flying antics energized the crowd and added an extra layer of excitement to the game.
