Seven fixtures took place this week in the U18 Premier League. In the south, Arsenal closed their gap to leaders Tottenham Hotspur to six points and they still have a game in hand over their arch-rivals. Meanwhile, in the north, Manchester United’s 100% record was extended to 11 games with a 3-1 win away at Newcastle United. Here are the standout stars from another thrilling week of academy football.

Chido Obi-Martin, Arsenal

Chido Obi-Martin provided two assists as Arsenal beat Reading 3-0. The Denmark U17 international set up Dan Casey to open the scoring on his debut at U18 level after half an hour before assisting Osman Kamara for Arsenal’s third goal to wrap up the points. The forward made the headlines earlier this year when he scored TEN goals in one game when he dropped down to the Gunners U16s for their fixture against Liverpool in November.

Justin Oguntolu, Derby County

Justin Oguntolu netted a brace as Derby County thrashed Middlesbrough 4-1. The forward equalised for the Rams after half an hour and netted his second, Derby’s third, ten minutes later to put his side two goals up at the break. Oguntolu is the Rams’ top goalscorer in the U18 Premier League this season with five goals to his name so far.

Tristan Gill, Derby County

Tristan Gill grabbed two assists as Derby came from behind to beat Boro. The 17-year-old set up Billy Gough to put Derby in front two minutes after equalising. He then assisted Oguntolu’s second shortly after to cap off a stunning 10-minute turnaround from the Rams. Victory over Boro moves Derby up to fourth in the table which continues their incredible progress since their trouble-filled start to last season.
