U18 Premier League: Top performers from 27th January 2024

A full weekend of fixtures took place this week in the U18 Premier League for the first time since November. West Ham United regained top spot in the south, leading local rivals Tottenham Hotspur on goal difference. Meanwhile, Manchester United’s 100% record continued as they moved 14 points clear of the chasing pack in the north. Here are the standout stars from another thrilling week of academy football.

Coby Ebere, Everton

Coby Ebere bagged a hat-trick as Everton won 4-1 away at Stoke City. After a quiet first half, the 18-year-old produced a contender for the quickest hat-trick of the season! He opened the scoring in the 55th minute before doubling his tally in the 59th then just a minute later the forward completed a five-minute treble. The German youngster’s season only got underway last month due to injury struggles but he is back amongst the goals already.

Bendito Mantato, Manchester United

Bendito Mantato grabbed a goal and two assists as Manchester United thrashed Leeds United 4-0 to extend their 100% winning run to 13 league matches. The England U15 international scored United’s second after 16 minutes. He then set up Zachary Baumann 15 minutes later before providing the assist for Ethan Williams to wrap the game up for the Red Devils before half time. The midfielder’s goal was his first at U18 level.

Conor Brown, Nottingham Forest

Conor Brown scored twice to earn Nottingham Forest a 2-1 victory against Liverpool. The 18-year-old opened the scoring after 17 minutes before winning the game for Forest early in the second half. The forward’s tally for the season now stands at an incredible 10 goals in 11 league matches which sees him move one place behind leader Matthew Warhurst (from Manchester City) in the scoring charts.

Joshua Ajala, West Ham United

Joshua Ajala netted a brace in West Ham United’s 3-0 win against Reading. The 17-year-old opened the scoring after just two minutes before adding his second of the day midway through the second half to wrap up the points and send the Hammers top of the table. The forward now has six goals in seven league starts in his debut campaign at U18 level.

Osman Kamara, Arsenal

Osman Kamara bagged two goals as Arsenal thrashed Leicester City 4-0. The Sierra Leone youngster scored from the penalty spot to double the Gunner’s lead early in the second half before netting his second and Arsenal’s third 10 minutes later. The forward now has five goals this season which matches his goal tally for the whole of last campaign in half as many matches.

Hindolo Mustapha, Crystal Palace

Hindolo Mustapha grabbed two assists to help Crystal Palace claim a 4-2 victory over Fulham. The 17-year-old set up Matteo Dashi in first half stoppage time for Palace’s second goal before assisting Jesse Derry after the break to extend the Eagle’s advantage. The midfielder’s double takes his assist tally to six this season which sees him top of the charts in the U18 Premier League South.
