British Basketball Prospect Clemson Edomwonyin commits to Drexel University

After successful spells with City of London Academy and South Kent School, Clemson Edomwonyin has committed his future to Philadelphia based Drexel University of the CAA.

Edomwonyin, who first picked up a basketball in 2020, has enjoyed an excellent few years of development earning several honours in the EABL and landing a spot in the 2023 HoopsFix All-Star classic.

The 2005 born forward was also selected to represent Spain at the FIBA U18 Eurobasket in 2023, attracting interest from Division 1 schools across the Atlantic.

Edomwonyin opted for the Drexel Dragons, who are currently enjoying their best year for over a decade as they sit at the summit of the CAA standings with a conference record of 8-1 (15-7 overall).

In the 2023 EABL season, the 18-year-old led the league in blocks and won defensive player of the year for the Southern conference, as well as being included in the all-conference 1st team to go with his most improved award.

The 6’10 prospect then spent a post-graduate year with South Kent in the New England Prep School Athletic Council, allowing him to continue his progression at a high level.

This next step in Philly will give the big man the opportunity to prove himself at D1 standard with a constantly improving programme.

Speaking to 24/7 high school hoops, he said: “I chose Drexel because of the amazing coaching staff and their great development with big men.”
