U18 Premier League: Top performers from 17th February 2024

A full weekend of fixtures took place in the U18 Premier League this week. In the south, Chelsea moved to within three points of top two West Ham United & Tottenham Hotspur and still have multiple games in hand on their London rivals. Meanwhile, Manchester United still lead the way in the north but Manchester City have closed the gap for the second week running. Here are the standout stars from another thrilling week of academy football.

Eseosa Sule, West Bromwich Albion

Eseosa Sule scored a hat-trick as West Bromwich Albion beat West Ham United 5-2. The 17-year-old opened the scoring after 10 minutes before the Hammers turned the game around. Sule restored the Baggies lead a minute after half time and completed his treble in the 84th minute. The forward is enjoying a strong season with seven goals in 11 league games. He has also featured seven times in Premier League 2 this season.

Tyrique George, Chelsea

Tyrique George scored and provided two assists as Chelsea thrashed Tottenham Hotspur 4-1. The England U18 international set up Frankie Runham for the opener in the first half before netting the Blues’ third himself shortly after the break. He then set up Josh Acheampong 10 minutes later to extend the advantage. The forward now has six goals and four assists in eight league games this season which is already double his tally for last campaign.

Luca Fletcher, Manchester City

Luca Fletcher bagged two goals as Manchester City won 2-1 away at Liverpool. The England U17 international scored either side of the half-time break to earn City the win and cut the gap at the top to 13 points with two games in hand on Manchester United. The forward is in his breakthrough season in the U18 Premier League and he is averaging a goal every 69 minutes of football so far.
