EABL: City of London Academy named Southern Conference champions

A win over Copleston High School saw City of London Academy claim the Southern Conference top spot on the final day of the regular season.

CoLA dispatched Copleston in a 67-62 victory to conclude their regular season campaign with a record of 10-2.

Copleston looked to stage a late comeback and went 17-7 in the fourth quarter, but the Southern leaders did enough to cement their spot at the summit of the conference.

Isaac Fiagbe impressed off the bench for the number one seed, dropping 15 points and 11 points in a dominant double-double showing.

Fiagbe’s consistency has been vital to CoLA’s Southern Conference triumph, averaging 11.8 points and 8.1 boards as well as leading the team in efficiency and rebounding.

17-year-old Khyle Capanzana played a huge part in his team’s success having led the team in points, minutes, three-point shooting, assists and steals.

The 6’0 guard shot 45.1% from three-point range, the third highest in the EABL as well as averaging 12.2 points a game.

Mou Wol-Cummings (9.1PPG, 3.3RPG) and Bilal Khan (11.4PPG, 3.5RPG) were pivotal cogs in the CoLA machine as they now look ahead to the post season.

The play-offs begin next week and with the EABL sticking with the usual 1st vs 4th and 2nd vs 3rd format, CoLA will face The Sheffield College and Barking Abbey will play Derby College Trailblazers.
