U18 Premier League: Top performers from 6th April 2024

A full weekend of fixtures took place in the U18 Premier League this week. In the north, Manchester United took another step towards being crowned champions by thrashing arch-rivals Liverpool. Meanwhile, in the south, Chelsea beat West Ham United 4-3 to leapfrog them and return to the top of the table. Here are the standout stars from another thrilling week of academy football.

Ethan Wheatley, Manchester United

Ethan Wheatley netted a hat-trick as Manchester United smashed Liverpool 9-1. The England U17 international scored twice in three first half minutes to help United race into a 3-0 lead after just 15 minutes. He completed his treble in the 57th minute when he notched the Red Devils’ fifth. The forward has now netted eight goals in seven league matches this season.

Gabriele Biancheri, Manchester United

Gabriele Biancheri scored twice in United’s dominant victory despite starting the match on the bench. The Wales U17 international only entered the pitch in the 58th minute when he replaced Wheatley straight after his third. The forward bagged his side’s seventh 10 minutes after coming on before finding the net again in the 83rd minute. Biancheri’s goal tally for the season now stands at 12 in all competitions.

Chibuzo Nwoko, Fulham

Chibuzo Nwoko scored and provided two assists as Fulham beat Brighton & Hove Albion 3-2. The England U18 international equalised in the 33rd minute before setting up Aaron Loupalo-Bi just a minute later. He then set up Thomas Wingate in the second half for what proved to be the winner. The central midfielder has now matched his goal tally for last season.

Miracle Adewole, Tottenham Hotspur

Miracle Adewole grabbed a goal and two assists as Tottenham Hotspur thrashed Reading 6-1. After four minutes, the defender set up Mikey Moore for the opener and he notched another assist in the second half, this time for Yusuf Akhamrich. Adewole scored his first goal of the season in the 72nd minute to extend Spurs’ lead to four. He has notched a goal and four assists in ten appearances in his debut campaign at U18 level.

Asher Agbinone, Crystal Palace

Asher Agbinone bagged a brace in Crystal Palace’s 3-1 victory against Norwich City. The 18-year-old netted Palace’s second in the 23rd minute before adding his second three minutes later as the Eagles raced into what proved to be an unassailable advantage. The midfielder has now netted five goals in nine U18 Premier League matches this season.
