Italy produced a dominant display to beat Portugal 3-0, securing their second UEFA U17 European Championship title.

Italy were immediately on the front foot from the first minute, pressing Portugal high up the pitch and creating early chances.

Italy were rewarded for their ferocious start by drawing first blood in the final. They took the lead in the 6th minute through a bullet header from Federico Coletta after a brilliant pinpoint cross from Cristian Cama.

Italy doubled their lead in the 16th minute through Francesco Camarda. The 16-year-old AC Milan attacker ran onto a pass from Cristian Cama on the left-hand side, ghosted past Rui Silva into the box along the byline, cut back in, and put the ball past Diogo Ferreira to extend Italy’s lead.

The opening 16 minutes shocked Portugal, who tried to respond immediately. Massimo Pessina made a crucial save at his near post in the 23rd minute, denying Geovany Quenda from scoring.

Five minutes into the second half, Italy added a third goal, with Francesco Camarda getting his second of the night. Mattia Mosconi threaded a beautiful pass from the right-hand side through the legs of Rafael Mota, finding Camarda, who took a touch before side-footing his shot past Diogo Ferreira to make it 3-0.

Two minutes later, Eduardo Fernandes dispossessed Cama with a sliding tackle, raced into the box, held off a challenge from Natali, but fired his shot into the side netting.

Italy had opportunities to extend their lead through Di Nunzio and Camarda, but they couldn’t convert their chances.

In the last 20 minutes of the match, Portugal threw everything they had at Italy, trying to make things difficult for the Italians.

However, Italy saw out the remainder of the match and became champions of Europe. This title win was Italy’s first since 1982 and their second overall.
