U18 Premier League Cup

The Under-18 Premier League Cup was introduced at the beginning of the 2017-18 season by the Premier League to add a more competitive edge to youth knockout football and to assist the U18 Premier League schedule. The Premier League also included the U16 Premier League Cup (which was changed to the U17 Premier League Cup in 2020). The U18s Cup competition is split into seven groups of four teams, with clubs playing each other once in the group stage, either home or away.

The seven group winners and the best runner-up will advance to the competition’s quarter-finals. Knockout matches are all one-off matches, so if a tie ends level after 90 minutes, it will be decided in extra time and then penalties if necessary. Since 2017, Chelsea and Manchester City have been the most successful teams to have won the U18 Premier League Cup, with two titles each.

Tottenham Hotspur are the current defending champions of the U18 Premier League Cup after defeating Aston Villa 3 – 1 in the 2022-23 edition. In the U17 Premier League Cup edition, Manchester City is the most successful team to have won the competition, with two titles. Tottenham Hotspur are also the title holders of the U17 Premier League Cup as they emerged 5 – 1 winners against Nottingham Forest.
